Meet the Team
The Student Debt Crisis Center is a non-profit organization with about 2 million supporters nationwide and works to amplify borrower voices and needs to end the student debt crisis once and for all. SDCC has been helping borrowers for more than a decade with a specific focus on advocacy, education, and outreach. The team has successfully engaged three presidential administrations, Congress, and state legislators to address this crisis. They have secured critical policy wins along the way including stopping student loan interest rates from increasing, expanding consumer protections for borrowers, and passing state legislation. SDCC has helped to shift the narrative to include broad-based debt cancellation and debt relief for victims of for-profit colleges and disabled borrowers.
Sabrina Ashley Cereceres
Executive Director
Sabrina Ashley is the Executive Director of the Student Debt Crisis Center (SDCC). Having been connected to the organization for nearly a decade, Sabrina Ashley has played a key role in advancing borrower advocacy, youth engagement, and grassroots organizing efforts.
Throughout her time at SDCC, she has
led major initiatives including Free the Degree, developed educational resources and advocacy campaigns, managed digital engagement strategies, and represented borrowers in national conversations about student debt.

As Executive Director, Sabrina Ashley is focused on expanding SDCC's impact, strengthening borrower communities, and advancing policies that make higher education more affordable and accessible. She is passionate about ensuring that borrowers' voices remain at the center of the fight for a more equitable higher education system.

Having worked through multiple administrations and major shifts in student loan policy, Sabrina Ashley remains committed to helping borrowers navigate challenges, organize for change, and build a future where higher education does not come at the expense of financial stability.
Natalia Abrams
President & Founder
Natalia Abrams has been on the front lines of the fight for student loan debt reform for well over a decade. Long before others acknowledged student debt as a genuine American crisis, Natalia was raising awareness of the scale of the problem – and working with both borrowers and legislators on lasting, meaningful solutions. From the New York Times to Wall Street Journal to NPR and countless other
outlets, Natalia has been cited as a subject matter expert on the immense injustice of the existing system for funding higher education. As president, Natalia continues to direct the SDCC’s overall strategy and fundraising programs – and represent SDCC in media and communications. A Los Angeles native, Natalia graduated from UCLA.
Sabrina Calazans
Lead Borrower Strategist
Sabrina Calazans currently serves as the Lead Borrower Strategist at SDCC where she advocates for student debt cancellation by putting borrowers and their stories front and center. As a student loan borrower and first-generation American, she is passionate about bringing awareness to the disproportionate impact of student loan debt on communities of color, low-income communities, and
women. Sabrina became involved in the fight to cancel student debt by filling out a survey and sharing her story.
Ryan Coryea
Policy & Communications Associate
Ryan Coryea currently serves as the Policy and Communications Associate for Student Debt Crisis Center where she amplifies borrower voices through social media, translates complex policy into accessible resources, and shares the experiences of recent graduates navigating student loan repayment. She recently graduated from the University of California, San
Diego, with a degree in Political Science specializing in Political Theory. Building on her experiences advocating for students as a member of the University of California Student Association, she is passionate about educational equity, economic justice, and closing the college access gap for women, people of color, and low-income Americans.
